Six years ago, Tavria Thorne’s family vanished without a trace. Since then, she’s spent her life chasing dead ends, unanswered questions, and the dwindling hope that her parents are still alive. When her best friend arrives with the first promising clue in years, Tav finally has a reason to leave everything behind and follow the trail.
But the answers she’s searching for may be far more dangerous than she imagined.
As their journey takes them farther from home, rumors begin to surface of a mysterious religious order known as the Covenant, a growing cult whose influence spreads quietly while people disappear in its wake. With her own unpredictable magic becoming an increasing complication, Tav begins to suspect that her family’s disappearance is connected to something far larger and more sinister than she ever imagined.
Then they encounter Soren Arrowmar, an infuriatingly secretive man with a talent for getting under Tav’s skin and a past he’d rather keep buried. Having escaped four years of captivity, torture, and exploitation at the hands of the Covenant, Soren knows more about the cult than anyone they’ve encountered. More importantly, he may be their only chance of infiltrating the Citadel, the Covenant’s heavily guarded stronghold.
Reluctantly, he agrees to help.
But as their journey draws them closer to the Citadel, the secrets surrounding Tav’s family, her volatile magic, and Soren’s past begin to unravel. And somewhere between reluctant allies and something neither of them is prepared to name, a bond takes root that threatens to change everything.
Because finding the truth may demand more than either of them is willing to sacrifice, and what’s growing between them could prove to be either their salvation or their undoing.
